Thank you for your interest in electing the next Sheriff of DeKalb County, Indiana.
It is with enthusiasm and pride that I announce that I am seeking the Republican nomination for Sheriff of DeKalb County in 2010. I look forward to the opportunity to make a difference in the community. I intend to provide the DeKalb County Sheriff's Department with ethical leadership. I am also committed to providing the citizens of DeKalb County with a professional, community focused Sheriff's Department.
I have been a member of the DeKalb County Sheriff's Department for over 18 years and have a wide range of experience within the Department. I am currently a detective, with an emphasis on investigating crimes against children. I have ten years of experience as a supervisor and have developed many leadership qualities, earning the respect of those I supervised.
I have been married to my wife Julie for over 22 years. We have two beautiful daughters, Anna and Elizabeth. Julie is a social worker in DeKalb County. Anna is a freshman at Purdue University, and Elizabeth is a sophomore at DeKalb High School. We are active members in our community and with our church, Immaculate Conception in Auburn. Julie and I are proud to call DeKalb County our home.
I acknowledge that I have little political experience. However, I feel it is more important that the next Sheriff be not only an experienced police officer, but someone with a fresh perspective of the department, its employees, and its role in the community. The office also requires someone with the desire, the vision and the skills to take the Sheriff's Department to a new level of professionalism. I am that person.
Please take a few moments to learn more about my ideas. I look forward to your comments and suggestions. Please feel free to contact me with your questions and concerns or if you'd like to join in the cause to elect Don Lauer For Sheriff.
